Elk Island Making Contingency Plans for Colchester

The fight isn’t over for Colchester school, but Elk Island Public Schools is now being forced to make contingency plans as the government pushes ahead with their disastrous transmission overbuild. If the lines are not stopped, students from Colchester will be sent to Fultonvale Elementary Junior High.

Parents are concerned that this alternative still has a lot of problems. It forces students to move a large distance, it forces elementary school students in with junior high students, and students may be attending classes while renovations are ongoing at Fultonvale. Elk Island Public Schools is doing there best to address these issues, but the provincial government has left them with very little wiggle room.

Students and parents don’t want their school to be closed down and the government should cancel these unneeded transmission lines right away in order to protect students and stop this disruption in their lives.

These events were recently covered in Edmonton Journal. You can read the story here: http://www.vancouversun.com/news/national/Students+moved+from+school+near+Heartland+power+line/6087469/story.html
