SNC-Lavalin Scandal Continues

SNC-Lavalin has just launched an investigation into $35 million worth of undocumented payments made last year. This comes as the value of SNC-Lavalin stock is in free fall as a result of ongoing revelations about the company’s business dealings with the Gadhafi family in Libya. For those who haven’t been following the story, SNC-Lavalin owns AltaLink. (When they aren’t building unneeded transmission lines here, they’ve been building a prison and other things for the Libyan government.) SNC-Lavalin refused to reveal whether these undocumented payments were related to the company’s involvement in Libya.

You can read the full story here: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-investor/snc-lavalin-to-probe-35-million-in-payments/article2352286/ or in the Edmonton Journal. The relationship between the Alberta government and this company also deserves significant attention.
