More on AltaLink’s Parent Company Scandals
The most recent edition of Maclean’s Magazine contains an in-depth article about the long-standing friendly ties that AltaLink’s parent company, SNC-Lavalin, has had with tyrannous regimes around the world.
Further to previous reporting by RETA, the Maclean’s article provides details of SNC-Lavalin’s close ties with the Libyan Moammar Gadhafi regime, alleged corruption surrounding a bridge project in Bangladesh, a corruption scandal in India associated with renovations to several hydroelectric dams, and SNC-Lavalin’s recent support of Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.
These and other allegations sent SNC-Lavalin shares nose diving more than 25% last month, and resulted in a class-action lawsuit by its investors, accusing the company of being “engaged in unlawful activities in Libya”.
